Our church vision is to ignite a passion to follow Jesus.
This bicentennial year we are reviving the motto from 1872 “that our light may shine out.” From session minutes dating July 22nd, 1872, the church sexton was instructed to “open the shutters more in the evening, that our light may shine out.” Even now, our lighted steeple has been a welcoming beacon for all, and symbolic of our commitment to bringing God’s light into our community.

The First Presbyterian of Salem
Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Salem, New Jersey. We are a congregation where conventional labels such as “conservative” or “evangelical” do not sufficiently capture the fullness of who we are: a caring church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ who share and show the love of God; a community of believers who, by the Holy Spirit, strive to be biblically and theologically informed and inspired; servants called by God’s grace to cast a vision of hope and spiritual vitality in worship and service, working together to extend Christ’s mission of compassion in our community and world.

Worship Service – 11:00 am
Fellowship Hour – 12:00 noon
Sunday School – 9:30 am (for all ages)
Summer Worship Service – 10:00 am (beginnng June 11)
No Sunday School or Fellowship Hour after May 21

Lighthouse Ministry, Inc.
The Lighthouse Ministry Inc. exists to serve Salem City families and the local youth community through educational outreach and activities focused upon the holistic development of the individual’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

We are honored to be selected by our Salem County neighbors, in a survey conducted by the Salem County Chamber of Commerce, as the Best Faith Community of 2021.
