Message from the Director
Welcome to the Lighthouse Ministry, Inc. My hope and prayer is that our pages will provide a connection with many of you looking for just the right place to serve. In our quaint little town of Salem there are so many great ways to serve Christ through various churches and organizations and maybe you are already involved being a light where you are! Perhaps you have a ministry that you would love the City Lights (our Youth Volunteers) to come help your group with, or you are just curious about what others are doing…looking for some new ideas. We can support one another in prayer as we reach out as Christ’s hands and feet to our neighbors. I encourage you to email me with ideas or to tell what your church or youth group is doing. As our City Lights group grows we want to support ministries that are in place, having success, but needing extra hands and encouragement. As we adapt our programs to the needs of the community, we always welcome new volunteers.
The Lighthouse Learning Center (2007) and Youth Garden (2008) have been in place since I became involved with the Lighthouse.
This summer City Lights made it possible for us to have a Soccer Camp, Art Camp, and boys and girls clubs. Expansion of some of these programs and a few new ones are on the horizon. Our focus is on creating and sustaining activities for the youth of Salem City which will benefit both those serving and being served. My dream is to see children who have been participants in our programs come back as leaders!
As a previous pediatric oncology nurse, substitute school nurse, and mom of three, I have a passion for working with youth and seeing them develop holistically. I especially love to see them grow in faith and serving Christ. I am so grateful to those who began this ministry, had the passion to keep it going, the wonderful volunteers who give of their time, and to the church and others in the community who support our efforts!
