WHAT CAN I EXPECT MY FIRST TIME AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH?
We know it can be a little unnerving to step into a new thing, especially when you’re not exactly sure about the details that matter to you. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the church to give you a picture of what FPC looks like week to week and hopefully address issues important to you.
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE MAKE UP FPC?
What you’ll encounter when you attend FPC is a community where people seek to know and love God, live in community with others and transform the world by serving our community as Christ would. Practically speaking, that means the some of us are just checking out Christianity for the first time, while others have been in church their whole lives. FPC attenders span all different ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome.
WHEN ARE YOUR SERVICES?
Sunday School (for all ages) 9:30 a.m.
Sunday Morning Worship 11:00 a.m. Our Traditional Reformed Service on the Lord’s Day
Fellowship Hour 12:00 Noon Time to visit with visitors and friends, and enjoy light refreshment
HOW LONG WILL THE SERVICE LAST?
All of our services and Sunday School classes are about an hour long.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
“What do people wear at FPCS?” This is one of the most asked questions. First and foremost come as you are. But, if you’re wondering how most people around here dress, it’s pretty broad. At the traditional service, a lot of men wear khakis and a polo or button up shirt, and many also wear jackets. Ladies wear pants, skirts, and dresses. We encourage you to dress in whatever way makes you feel comfortable. Most importantly though we look forward to seeing you, not what you’re wearing!
WILL I NEED TO SAY, SIGN OR GIVE ANYTHING?
We believe that God has welcomed sinners like us, we want you to feel as welcome as possible. The order of worship is printed in the bulletin you receive when you enter and gives all the information you need to follow along and to participate as you feel comfortable.
An offering is taken in every service because the finances of the church are the responsibility of the church members. If you do not wish to contribute, just let the offering pass by.
WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN - DO THEY COME INTO THE SERVICE WITH ME OR IS THERE SOMETHING GOING ON FOR THEM?
Children are welcome in the worship service!
